    National Sales Academy:

    Funded Work Based Learning for Existing Employees & New Apprentices.

     Overview

    In the UK, the sales sector employs just over two million people in directly related occupations and up to another 1.3 million people in roles which include elements of sales practice. This represents 7% of the UK’s workforce.  These numbers reflect  the relevance of sales to all business activities, and the immense value of the sales occupation to the national economy.

    The NSA was specifically set up to address the skills gap employers have in engaging, recruiting and retaining their sales workforce and employees.

    The driving force behind the success the National Sales Academy is our understanding of sales from the inside out, our entrepreneurial spirit, and passion for creating and developing successful career pathways in sales.

    We provide a number of funded skill based Certificates, Diplomas and Apprenticeships in SALES as well as a free of charge OUTREACH recruitment, assessment and pre work screening BOOTCAMP! We also provide employers with a range of bespoke training courses and access to funding.
    The National Sales Academy works with individuals and employers to identify funded opportunities for existing and new staff (see OUTREACH) at levels 2 (Certificates, Diplomas, Apprenticeships) and 3 (Advanced certificates, diplomas, Apprenticeships) for those aged 16-18, 19-24 and 25+. The level and funding depends upon the job role, required experience and age category.

    Below are some of the case studies and examples of how the employers have benefited from working with the NSA.

    Case study 1: SME

    • When we engaged with this customer they were looking to recruit their first internal sales team. The company employs 25 staff and operates in the sector of IT services.
    • They were unsure as to how to set up the sales team and how to recruit in particular the entry level sales executives.
    • We initially carried out a standard diagnostic to assess the company plans and understand more aout the expectations that the new role would do.
    • We went though all the job details and decided  that most were suitable for an apprentice and that a few would be after about 3 to 5 months of the training.
    • We engaged with candidates and held an assessment centre at the client site. Applicants were assessed and had to deliver a short presentation on the telephone. We interviewed the candidates for the employer as successful candidates were invited to bootcamp.
    • 10 candidates attended bootcamp and the employer interviwed 8 at the end.
    • They were so impressed with the quality of the apprentices that they offered 6 applicants the sales apprentice role and 1 a work trial of 1 month.
    • The Apprentices have now nearly completed their level 2 and all will be offered a permanent role in the company and the option to progress to a level 3 if they wish to.
    • In all this customer saved £51,000 in staff costs by employing Apprentices in the new sales team.

    Case study 2: Multiple recruiter

    •  After the initial diagnostic we established that our customer would be recruiting 250 to 400 people in the business over the next 12 months. Most of the roles were in sales, contact centre, business admin and customer services.
    • We established that 200 of the roles could be done by an apprentice and would require a totally bespoke engagement, recruitment and training programme.
    • The roles and job specs were finalised  and we engaged with candidates manly through the NAS matching service and digital advertising. As applications were high we held several assessment centres based on job role and department.
    • In total we screened over 1200 applications, assessed 650 and 200 went though bootcamp.
    • Currently all 200 learners are in active learning or are due to complete their level 2.
    • We also managed to secure funding so that the client costs of training were also paid for.
    • In total his client saved £180,000 in staff salaries, £80,000 in staff training.
